Yaskawa UK Applications By Type Friction Welding
Motoman Robots have been successfully installed to handle parts for friction welding machines. The workpiece handling is trickier than a classical Machine Tending Operation, but this is where Motoman GP Series and SDA robots play out their strengths!
This is an elegant robotic application, specifically for large panel plastic workpieces like dashboards or wheel shells.
Friction Stir Welding is an emerging technology well suited to weld aluminium LIB battery trays of electric vehicles (BEV/HEV). Commonly the robot carries the FSR Head and is exposed to the high and volatile process forces. We recommend to use rigid stronger shortarm GP Series robots, like the GP280 or GP400.
